French Riviera Fitness of New Orleans donates 54,000 in fitness equipment to Westbank Firehouse

On May 28, 2007, Riviera Fitness donated $54,000 in fitness equipment to the Avondale Fire Department.  Arranged by Nick Rivet, French Riviera Fitness City Manager, this donation is in keeping with the club's philosophy of spreading fitness to all corners of New Orleans.  "We had the equipment, and we knew there was a real need there, so it was an excellent match", stated Mr. Rivet.

Robert Funk, Avondale Fire Department Chief, commented, "It's really helped us out in terms of physical fitness."  "We have quite a few members who work out every day."  "It's very important for us to be working out, in fighting fires we carry about 40 lbs of equipment on our backs"  " It also helped with our insurance companies."

"Our equipment was outdated, and we were fortunate enough to have Riviera contact us. This is some of the best equipment that we have ever had here.  In fact, this is the best workout equipment in the seventh district- we had to take the equipment apart, lug it up three flights of stairs, and put it back together; and it was worth every painstaking minute," remarked Clint Walker, Firefighter

"It's really nice equipment, and we'd like to thank French Riviera for donating it.  We run on a tight budget and couldn't afford anything like this, so it was nice of French Riviera to donate it. It's beneficial to the guys, good for their health, fighting fires, and everything else in general. Fighting fires is very stressful so it's important to be healthy," said Tony Nocito, Firefighter.
