Exciting Changes for Local Health Club

Big changes are taking place at French Riviera Spa locations throughout Memphis!  From the Grand Opening of their newest health club in Whitehaven, to a 15,000 sq ft addition at the Poplar Plaza location, French Riviera Spa is giving the competition a run for their money by offering more locations, more space, better equipment and services, and  newly remodeled facilities.

French Riviera Spa has been in Memphis for over 30 years.  Their first health club opened on Summer Avenue, Thanksgiving Weekend, 1973.  In 1980, the company began their expansion by taking over the Cosmopolitan Health Clubs in Memphis, Tupelo, Mobile & Little Rock.  This expansion, along with their focus on providing affordable fitness to the community, has catapulted the company into the multi-million dollar health and fitness leader that it is today.  French Riviera has five locations in Memphis, 4970 Raleigh LaGrange, 1880 Germantown Parkway, 3486 Poplar at Highland, 4960 Winchester at Hickory Hill and 4130 Elvis Presley, and 25 locations across the South.

The Poplar Plaza location, at Poplar and Highland, is undergoing the biggest, most exciting change.  A 15,000 sq ft expansion is set for completion in late fall of 2007, and will include a new yoga studio, Pilate’s studio, virtual cycling room w/big screen wall units, and four bed tanning salon.  Also included in the expansion, 5,000 sq ft of new equipment and workout area, and a cardio movie theatre, which will have all the features of a real movie theatre--digital surround sound, second run films, up lighting and over 30 new cardio workout machines.  This theatre is the first of its kind in Memphis; the company’s’ first theatre launched with great success in Birmingham earlier this year.  The full expansion will make the Poplar Plaza location a little under 50,000 sq ft.

The company’s Raleigh LaGrange location has also undergone dramatic changes.  This month marked the grand re-opening of their Aquatics area, with a newly remodeled pool and whirlpool  area and renovated sauna and steam facilities.  Also included in this aquatics facelift, was the installation of a state-of-the-art ventilation system, designed to cut down on humidity and chlorine odors.  The Raleigh-Bartlett location has also installed new flooring throughout, and has complete a new cycling room.  The company’s Winchester and Hickory Hill location also underwent recent changes to their free weight area by adding $50,000 in new equipment.

Other exciting news…  French Riviera’s personal training program has undergone reorganization to provide better service and facilitate the program’s rapid growth.  In addition, janitorial services have been beefed up citywide, offering pristine facilities.  French Riviera also has exciting plans this summer to announce several free seminars on obesity, healthy living, and the benefits of exercise.
