Senior Officials Of French Riviera Spa Meet With Louisiana Congressional Leaders In Washington D.C. As Part Of Industry's Commitment To "Reshaping America!"

On Tuesday, May 6, senior officials of French Riviera Spa met with Louisiana congressional leaders in Washington D.C. as part of its participation in the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association's (IHRSA) first-ever Legislative Summit, held Monday, May 5 through Tuesday, May 6 at the Ritz - Carlton Hotel in Washington D.C.

The Legislative Summit is a first of its kind for the fitness industry focused primarily on health promotion and the industry's commitment to "Reshaping America!" More than 100 health club and fitness industry leaders from across the nation attended the Legislative Summit, which included a visit to Capitol Hill where participants met with members of Congress. These meetings focused on the industry's support of active health promotion legislation and the industry's willingness to take a leadership position in the national battle against obesity and the many other, often devastating illnesses related to a sedentary lifestyle. " French Riviera Spa is very excited about what happened at the Legislative Summit," said Alice Gonzales, Community Relations Director of French Riviera Spa. "We met members of Congress and discussed how the health club industry can help lead the fight against the many health risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle and creating incentives to encourage healthy living."

There are currently many pieces of proposed health promotion legislation in the U.S. Congress. Of particular interest to IHRSA and its members is the Workforce Health Improvement Program (WHIP) Act, H.R. 1818, an amendment to the tax code, which if passed would allow employers to deduct the cost of health club memberships for their employees.

French Riviera Spa has been in business for over 15 years in New Orleans, is a member of The Chamber of Commerce, and is registered with the Better Business Bureau.

The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) is a Nonprofit association dedicated to the growth, protection, and promotion of the health club industry, and represents more than 6,500 clubs worldwide. IHRSA is an international leader in health club industry education and research.
